EYFS/Reception Learning Zone and Curriculum Overview

Spring 1st Half-Term Update

 

Reception have been exploring and celebrating Chinese New Year. 

We have enjoyed tasting traditional Chinese New Year food and talking about the different flavours and similarities in food in different cultures.

We made our own dragons using red and yellow card, we learnt that red and yellow are considered lucky colours in Chinese culture. To complete our new learning we made cards, dragons and lanterns.

In the first part of the Autumn Term we have introduced “Numberland.” 

Our Learners have adventured into “Marsden Numberland!” 

Learners have enjoyed representing numbers from one to four, and exploring the shapes linked to the number.

Cat Visit

Miss Dalzell brought her cat Bella into Reception. The learners' learnt how to care and look after animals. We all stroked Bella and enjoyed learning about cats!

Phonics in Reception
RS Visit to Nelson Library

RS had a wonderful visit to Nelson Library! All the learners walked to the library and looked for local landmarks on the way. We saw the statue of the Nelson Shuttle, the Town Clock and the Cenotaph. Whilst at the library, we learnt all about how to borrow books and the other services avaliable, listened to a story and solved riddles about familiar book characters. We had a great time! All the learners behaved impecibally and made our school proud!

Curiosity Learning Power Presentation

 

 

People Who Help Us.

We have explored firefighters, doctors and police officers. This week we were very lucky to meet two police officers from within our own community team PC Donna and PC Jemima.  We enjoyed dressing up as police officers and asking them lots of questions about thier job.
